Artist's Comments

first part: [link]

as the second part of a school project, this drawing is inspired by my favourite poem, 'The Raven', written by E. A. Poe. since I expect you all to know this amazing poem, I'm not gonna put it in my comment. But íf you don't know the poem (shame on you! :O), here you can find it:
[link]
BUT of course it would be so much better to listen to the beautiful song Omnia made of this poem [link]
(I don't know how often I listened this song while creating this picture... must have been about 20 - 30 times xD it's just magical)
(o and of course do not forget Nox Arcana's amazing album 'Shadow of the Raven'!!! O_O that one need to be mentioned too)

so. the drawing. It's pastel crayon and coloured pencil. Also used for little parts pastel pencils and black and white inkpens.
so most parts are coloured pencils.... and just that you know it; the size is 110 by 50 cm. Obviously it nearly killed me xD
I'm not happy with the face and the proportions, but I've worked sooooo very long on this drawing and I enjoyed it so much and, most important, I learned a lot. I have never worked on something this huge and seriously, I did not expect myself I would be able to actually finish it. Though I hád to finish it.
.... and I did O_o

... it's really finished after months O_O

wooooow

it's finished!!!!!!!!! omg!!!!! :D

(so jeah.... xD I'm proud that I finished it... so I could have keep telling myself how horrible all the mistakes are. But, you know... that doesn't help me :) This drawing is done and if it's not good enough for me, then I'll just try to make a better lineart for the next drawing =P I've got all time and I shouldn't forget drawing is journey to improve)

Hope you like it though O_O :/

referencephoto still not found :( I used the printed photo I had allready used for the first part, so it was covered with paint... did not work really nice. *sigh* I really want to find that photo back, it was so beautiful and I want to give the credit... hope one day I shall find it :)

Dear Marijke,

I will write this in English so all people can read my words of praise!
Do you know what I thought when I saw this drawing of yours?
I thought, and this is authentic, we have skipped 5 years without my knowing it and Marijke is 5 years older with 5 years more experience in drawing.
This is so beautiful, so well done, so mature, so technically well done! Great colours, great admosphere!
I am fan, again!
